East Coast Tasmania Tourism Positive Impact Plan
East Coast Tasmania Tourism have commissioned episteme to work with the community, industry and key stakeholders to develop a Positive Impact Plan (PIP) for the region during 2025-27.
Positive Impact is a way of thinking about tourism that doesn’t just leave no trace, but in fact enriches a place. Renowned futurist Anna Pollock describes this as using tourism to become an agent of positive transformation that can contribute to a better quality of life for all. Previously, quality of life has been measured by economic value, however we now see this to include quality of the natural environment, social fabric and cultural richness. With an economy so highly dependent on tourism, it is critical for the East Coast to consciously plan for this balance to ensure quality of life for all can be achieved.
The PIP is focused on building an understanding of what the East Coast Community want for themselves, and making this the basis for future tourism development, branding and place making. The project aims to:
- Enhance quality of life for everyone on the East Coast
- Create lasting, positive change
- Listen, be curious and open to ideas
- Build on to existing plans & work completed
- Connect with all stakeholders
- Find a core truth of common ground where people can work from together.
We look forward to working with the community and government partners to ensure this project delivers real outcomes for the people of the East Coast.
